Week 4
Colour Simplified
Time to add colour — but we’re keeping it simple and stress-free! With just two or three colours, you’ll create a vibrant, line & wash sketch that pops off the page.
Learn the secret of warm and cool shadows. Plus, discover how to paint quickly and confidently with loose, expressive sky washes.
Week 5
Texture & Character
This is where your buildings get personality! Explore the textures of brick, timber, windows, and rooftops using dry brush techniques.
Learn the art of suggestion, hinting at detail rather than drawing every single brick. And that’s not all. You’ll also add delightful, tiny figures to bring your scenes to life.
Week 6
Line and Wash in Nature
Step outside (or imagine you have!) and sketch the beautiful spaces where nature meets the city.
This week is all about combining trees and architecture, painting leafy canopies alongside rooftops, and mastering soft and hard edges to give your scenes a gorgeous, natural flow.
Week 7
Movement & Life
Bring the buzz of the street into your sketchbook! This week, we add movement with cars, figures, and everyday action.
Try quick gesture drawing to capture people on the go, and learn how to tell a story through your sketches. Fast, fun 10-minute exercises will sharpen your eye and build your confidence.
Week 8
Sketching on Location (depending on the weather)
Time to take your skills into the real world! Weather permitting, we’ll head outdoors for a location sketch.
You’ll learn to work quickly, decide what to leave out, and compose a scene on the spot. If the weather’s not on our side, we’ll set up a cosy café-style reference in the studio instead.
Week 9
Personal Style Development
This is your week to shine! Choose your own reference, pick a colour mood, and go bold with your brushwork.
It’s all about finding your unique style and trusting your creative instincts. Expression beats perfection every time — and we’ll be cheering you on.
Week 10
Final Piece + Mini Exhibition
It’s celebration time! Put everything you’ve learned together and create a finished line & wash sketch from start to finish. We’ll share tips on matting and presenting your artwork.
To wrap it all up, we’ll enjoy a mini exhibition where everyone gets to show off their masterpiece. What a fun way to conclude an incredible 10 weeks of creativity!

Week 10: Final Showcase Piece
It's time to create your masterpiece! For our final class, you will choose an urban subject you love and create a finished showcase piece.
Bringing together all the skills you've developed, you'll complete a beautiful line and wash sketch, with the option to add mixed media. We’ll conclude with a mini-exhibition, sharing our work and celebrating the incredible progress and unique styles that have emerged throughout our journey.
