Sculpt a Graceful Figure with Real Movement and Personality
The human figure has been a favourite subject for sculptors throughout history, and this week you’ll try your hand at it using the most delightful mix of materials. Wire becomes the bones, paper and fabric become the body and flowing clothing, and a touch of colour brings the whole piece to life. You’ll be guided through proportion, posture, and pose so your figure carries real movement and character — just like the joyful dancing figure in our example above.
You can make her tall and elegant, small and quirky, modern, vintage, or anywhere in between. With endless choices of colour, size, and structure, your finished sculpture will be entirely yours. It’s playful, satisfying, and absolutely stunning to display at home.

Build a Bold 3D Painting You Can Run Your Fingers Across
This week we blur the line between painting and sculpture in the most beautiful way. You’ll work directly onto a canvas, building up rich layers of texture so your finished piece almost leaps off the wall. Think raised waves, swirling currents, and a sculptural creature emerging from the surface — exactly like the beautiful koi gliding through textured water in our inspiration above.
You’ll learn how to apply, shape, and sculpt your texture medium so the surface comes alive with depth, light, and shadow. It’s a brilliant technique for adding real drama to wall art, and the finished piece is striking, tactile, and totally unique to you.

Create a Serene Sculpted Face That Quietly Holds the Room
Faces are the most expressive subject in all of art, and this week you’ll sculpt your very own — without needing any prior experience. Using an art face mask as your base, you’ll mount it onto a canvas and build a beautifully serene piece, just like the dreamy white face in our inspiration above. From there, the choices are entirely yours: smooth and minimalist, weathered and antique, painted in delicate colour, or left in calm, quiet white.
You’ll discover how to give your face real personality through the smallest sculpting touches — a softened eyelid, a gentle curve at the mouth, a bit of texture around the edges. It’s a meditative, deeply rewarding class with a finished piece that will quietly hold the room.

Sculpt a Human Head from a Humble Lump of Clay
This is the week you discover just how rewarding sculpting in clay really is. You’ll work with a fresh piece of clay to shape a small human head — eyes, nose, brow, mouth, and all the little details that bring a face to life. Don’t worry if you’ve never sculpted a head before; you’ll be guided gently through proportion, structure, and expression so confidence builds as you go.
You can aim for a realistic likeness or lean into something more stylised and characterful, just like the wonderfully expressive bust in our example above. There’s something genuinely magical about pinching, smoothing, and coaxing a recognisable face out of a humble lump of clay. You’ll walk out of the studio properly amazed at what your hands just made.

Stitch and Sculpt a Wildly Colourful Creature
This week we trade clay for cloth and discover just how much sculpting magic is hiding in your scrap basket. Bring along your favourite fabric pieces (or use ours) and we’ll show you how to transform them into a vibrant 3D creation that bursts with colour and texture. The cheeky parrot in our inspiration piece is a perfect example — every feather a different scrap, every patch adding to the personality.
You’ll learn how to layer, attach, and shape fabric over a sculpted base so your finished piece feels alive with movement and character. It’s a wonderful way to use up beautiful scraps that have been waiting for the right project. Your finished creature will be truly one-of-a-kind and impossible not to smile at.

Make Wild, Wonderful Art from Twigs, Bark and Vines
This week we sculpt with the most beautiful materials of all — the ones nature provides for free. You’ll arrange branches, bark, vines, leaves, and any other little finds into a piece of art that’s part sculpture, part botanical wonder. The breathtaking profile in our inspiration above shows just how striking the result can be when twig becomes hair and a single red petal becomes lips.
You can build freestanding or work onto a canvas, abstract or figurative, large or small — entirely up to you. Your teacher will guide you through binding, layering, and arranging so everything holds together beautifully. It’s a deeply calming, almost meditative class, and the finished piece feels like a little gift from the bush.

Sculpt a Bowl That’s Pure Decorative Magic
This week we make something genuinely functional, with plenty of artistic flair. Using a mould and paper, you’ll build up a beautifully formed bowl with that lovely hand-made character — the kind that looks gorgeous holding fruit, jewellery, or just sitting empty as a piece of art. Once your bowl has set, you’ll choose how to finish it: rich acrylics, delicate decoupage, or that stunning gold-leafed-rim look in our turquoise inspiration piece above.
You’ll be amazed at how professional and luxurious a paper bowl can look once it’s been beautifully painted. It’s a brilliant project that opens up endless possibilities for future pieces in different sizes and colours. The finished piece will absolutely earn its spot on your shelf.

Paint a Stunning Welcome Sign from Reclaimed Timber
This week we breathe a whole new life into old fence panels and turn them into the kind of welcoming sign you see on Pinterest and instantly want for your front porch. You’ll design and paint your own personalised sign, just like the cheerful daisy panels in our inspiration above. Whether yours says "Welcome", your family name, or something completely your own — the design is entirely up to you.
You’ll learn how to prep old timber, plan your layout, and use acrylics for a fresh, lasting finish, plus plenty of decorative tricks to make your sign truly pop. It’s a hugely satisfying piece to take home and an absolute conversation-starter every time someone walks up to your door.

Make Whatever Your Heart’s Been Dreaming Of
The whole term has been about exploring new materials, new techniques, and new ways of seeing the world in three dimensions. So this final week is yours to use however you wish. Come in with a piece you’ve been longing to finish, a technique you’d love to revisit, or a fresh idea you can’t wait to try.
The full studio is at your disposal and your teacher is right beside you for help whenever you need it. No template, no rules, no pressure — just you, your favourite materials, and ten weeks of beautifully earned confidence behind you.
