This clay bust art lesson is a fantastic way for you to explore figurative art, personal expression and a variety of hand-building techniques.
The sculpture class will run every second Sunday of the month continuing to explore and improve your sculpting experience.

Sculpting a Bust in Clay
Students will start to create their shoulder/torso form first using a block of solid clay. Focusing on creating the overall size/shape and the block of clay makes it very user friendly. The block is dried out slightly, ready to carve out from.
The sculpture will grow over several classes and we will continue to explore other sculpting shapes and sizes as the classes go on.
Start from the beginning of this awesome sculpting adventure in September, and every month you will embark on learning new skills in your sculpting adventure.
Perfect for both beginners and seasoned artists, this comprehensive workshop will take you through each step of sculpting a bust.
We’ll cover everything from understanding facial anatomy and proportions, to mastering the intricacies of clay manipulation. You’ll discover how to create lifelike busts that capture the essence of your subject.
And with hands-on guidance from an expert sculptor, you’ll develop a wealth of new skills. These will include adding textures, detailing features, and achieving finishes to be proud of.
Join us and turn a lump of dull clay into a beautiful work of art!
This workshop will not only be creative and rewarding, it will be fun, too! You’ll learn how to sculpt a portrait of your chosen person by expertly capturing their most prominent features.
Bring your subject with you in person, or just bring a photograph. Or if you want to create someone entirely new, that’s fine, too!
You will be provided with a wooden base giving you a solid foundation to develop your character on. Each mini-bust will be around 20cm tall. We have room for up to 15 people in each class, or we can arrange a private session on request.
You will be exploring the world of fine arts, where there are no strict rules about what you can and can’t do. That makes sculpting a fun alternative to applied arts, such as pottery.
Our workshops combine fun with education to make for a memorable day. You will acquire new sculpting skills, then take home your personal, one-of-a-kind masterpiece. You will be the proud owner of a mini-bust with its own character and charm!
We sculpt using air-dry clay, which means you can take your piece home without delay. Patinas are available, so you can also paint your portrait if you wish.
No Previous Knowledge Required
All levels are welcome.
What’s Included:
All materials required and Bisque firing of your masterpiece (ready for collection 3 weeks after completion)
What You Can Bring:
Bring a friend to be your model or a photograph. You can bring your own food and drinks.
Suitable For:
This class is great for individuals or couples. It’s also perfect as a team building activity, or a fun activity for a birthday or hens party.
The workshop would be a wonderful gift for Mum or any special lady in your life. And it’s a popular way to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries.
